In the Studio, Before Sunrise
The studio is quietest before the wheel starts. That hour shapes everything that follows.
Conclusion
Would this piece survive another look tomorrow morning? That's usually the only question that decides whether it stays.

Before the Wheel Starts
The studio opens before the light does. There is no music yet, no wheel turning. Just the clay, still wrapped from the night before, and the shelves holding whatever was made the day prior, waiting to see if it survived the drying.
This hour is not for making. It is for looking. A piece that seemed finished at 6pm can look wrong at 6am, a rim too thick, a curve that doesn’t sit right in the hand.
Small On Purpose
We keep the studio small on purpose. Fewer pieces in progress at once means each one gets looked at properly, more than once, before it’s called done.
By the time the wheel starts, most of the decisions for the day have already been made in silence.
